LASCI Visits Spinal Cord Injury Patients at Ohio State University

On August 2nd, 2012, UroMed’s spinal cord injury support group, Life After Spinal Cord Injury (LASCI)  hosted a motivational seminar for newly injured SCI patients at Ohio State University’s Dodd Hall. The event, led by LASCI founder Bert Burns, focused on how to live a full life after a spinal cord injury. Bert spoke about his experience as a Paralympic gold medalist and entrepreneur, and gave insights on:

  • Work/School,
  • Dating,
  • Children,
  • Marriage,
  • Sexuality,
  • Sports and
  • Bladder/Bowel Management.

The event was held at Dodd Hall Rehabilitation Center and was attended by professionals and patients alike. After the program, UroMed representative Vicki Sizer  answered questions that participants had.

LASCI Visits Spinal Cord Injury Patients at Summa Rehabilitation Hospital

On August 1st, 2012, UroMed’s spinal cord injury support group, Life After Spinal Cord Injury (LASCI)  hosted a motivational seminar for newly injured SCI patients at Summa Rehab Hospital in Ohio. The event, led by LASCI founder Bert Burns, focused on how to live a full life after a spinal cord injury. Bert spoke about his experience as a Paralympic gold medalist and entrepreneur, and gave insights on:

  • Work/School,
  • Dating,
  • Children,
  • Marriage,
  • Sexuality,
  • Sports and
  • Bladder/Bowel Management.

The young man pictured had a spinal cord injury but is now able to walk with the use of a cane.

The event was attended by professionals and patients alike and some even shared their stories of hope and recovery. One young man had a spinal cord injury but is now able to walk with the use of a cane while another gentleman, injured in a 4-wheeling accident, had his house rebuilt thanks to students at the high school where he used to coach! After the program, UroMed representative Vicki Sizer  answered questions that participants had.

About Summa Rehab Hospital

Summa Rehab Hospital, a joint venture between Summa Health System and Vibra Healthcare, is a 60-bed acute medical facility providing a rehabilitation regiment based on the specific needs of each patient.
