On Thursday, October 18th, 2012, UroMed teamed up with Hollister Incorporated to sponsor the 2012 AAP Pediatric Urology Nurses Specialist Educational Program and Reception in New Orleans, LA.

The Pediatric Urology Nurse Specialists [PUNS] is a professional organization committed to excellence in patient care, clinical practice, and research through the education of its members, patients, family and community. A Pediatric Urology Nurse Specialist is a registered nurse who devotes at least 50% of their time to pediatric urology patients.

During the PUNS reception, attendees enjoyed a full selection of cajun delights while listening to a brief presentation about the service and products provided by Hollister and UroMed, two recognized national leaders in intermittent catheters. The two companies share similar beliefs in their joint commitment to improving patient care, and both offer extremely high standards of service excellence.

UroMed Sponsors 2012 Wheelchair Tennis Championships Hosted by PTR

As the 2012 Wheelchair Tennis Championships kicked off in Hilton Head, SC this year, UroMed was on hand to support the athletes and to assist as a sponsor of the annual event. Now in it’s 25th year, this tennis classic is put on by the Professional Tennis Registry and is a highlight of the wheelchair tennis circuit.

In addition to the matches, the event included an Awards Banquet, Player Lunches, a Tiki Hut Beach Party, Run/Roll Event, and a Player Drill Clinic.

The best of the best from across the country and around the world came out to attend this year’s championships with athletes arriving from destinations including Canada, England, Germany, India, South Africa and France. Entry to this tournament was open to all USTA members.

Everything played out according to seeding in the top divisions of the USTA Fall Southern Pro Tennis Registry $17,500 Wheelchair Championships on Saturday on Hilton Head Island.

In the Men’s Open Singles division, second-seeded Stephen Welch beat fourth-seeded Steve Baldwin 6-1, 4-6, 7-6(3), while top-seeded Gordon Reid, the three-time defending champion, beat Frederic Cazeaudumec, 6-0, 6-0.

In the Women’s Open Singles division, No. 2 Katharina Kruger downed No. 3 Francisca Mardones, 6-2, 6-2, while top-seeded Lucy Shuker, the bronze medalist at the recent London Paralympics, beat Jessica Sporte 6-0, 6-0.

In the Open Doubles divisions, the two singles finalists teamed up to win their respective titles.

The top-seeded team of Reid and Welch beat Steve Baldwin and Frederic Cazeaudumec 6-4, 6-2 to win the men’s title, while No. 1 seeds Kruger and Shuker beat Francisca Mardones and Jessica Sporte 6-0, 6-2 for the women’s title.

Competitors vied for one of three major trophies awarded annually at the Wheelchair Tennis Championships.
