Competitive Bidding UpdateFor our Medicare patients |
With all of the healthcare reform changes currently in motion, UroMed has received calls from some of our patients asking questions about a letter from Medicare that indicates they "may have to change providers." DO NOT PANIC... your service with UroMed will not be interrupted. This letter is related to the DMEPOS Competitive Bidding Program.
Starting January 1, 2011, Medicare is phasing in a new competitive bidding program in some areas of the country. This program will change the way Medicare pays suppliers for certain durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics and supplies (DMEPOS) and make changes to who can supply these items.
At this time, the DMEPOS Competitive Bidding Program requirements
DO NOT apply to UroMed patients who are receiving Urological/Ostomy/Incontinence supplies, and you
will receive your supplies from UroMed with no required changes by Medicare.
